The simplest technique is simply to repeat a mantra as often as possible. During activities, and while at rest. This will train the mind to be more and more one pointed focused, clear, and calm… So that when you sit to Meditate and repeat the mantra mentally for meditation it can be incredibly Easy to drop into deep states of Awareness and Being… (A simple Mantra like Om can be as powerful or more powerful than longer more complicated mantras. These simple one syllable mantras are concentrated energy and focus like a seed. A seed of a tree for example has all the potential of growth into the large tree which can live for hundreds or even thousands of years.) Another VERY powerful technique is to remain as a Pure Witness… This also can be practiced during any activity. Noticing that everything conceived of, thought, or perceived is SEEN, stay as the SEEING power itself, and do not engage with what is Seen. Don’t try to attach to or push away anything that is Seen, Just stay as the Pure Witness. Become 1000% Present, and Aware to SEE what is in the Moment. The Highest Truth and Essence of Being is Ever Present! Can you Also be Present to SEE? The following will be helpful to make habit of meditation:
Firm-determination can help you to sit even if the mind feels agitated, or is moving you to get up after sitting. IF we set a firm determination to practice, and remain sitting the mind will settle on it’s own. The ability to detach from thoughts and perceptions IS A BIG KEY! This also comes with understanding the nature of mind… When you realize that absolutely everything is seen or perceived, including all thoughts of “me” or personal identity, then you can understand that this is being seen or witnessed by something deeper than the surface appearance of the mind in which these thoughts and perceptions are arising. You can also notice that all thoughts, and perceptions are not stable, they are subject to change. So they can be detached from as a pure witness because how can one engage in them when they are like passing clouds, and the contents or appearance cannot be taken for granted since it is subject to change to the exact opposite in an instance. This includes the ability to detach from any ideas about what meditation is, or outcomes, like aiming for states of experience in meditation which we may have had before, or ideas about what they should be. These ideas or concepts, or attachments to outcomes in meditation will only be more engagement with the mind making it more difficult to settle into such states… Thus one can simply sit, remaining still as a pure witness, rather than engaging with the thoughts. Not believing in them, or trying to push them away, but simply detaching back into a deeper state of Awareness and Being… You can also listen to a track like this one in the Video below as often as possible to help program the subconscious mind to increase skills of concentration, focus, detachment from thoughts, etc. and make it easier to attain deep states of meditation automatically!
